WHY I CREATED FREE AUTISM EDUCATION MATERIALS? THE POWER OF SOCIAL ISSUES, INNOVATION & EDUCATION

FREEEDUCATION

Have you ever thought about what the future lies ahead for our children? In a world where technology is slowly taking over, the marriage of innovation  education and  social issues is the future, a generation of hope, knowledge sharing and opportunities. All over the world, reported rates of Autism are on the rise, funding for this segment is on the decline, and sadly, in some countries, non existent.

Too often it is government policies, limited resources, little education for teachers that limit the broader uptake of new technologies, if we can accept the need of digital media literacy, we can create and distribute much needed Autism Education Materials, not just at home, but around the world, providing access to even those living in rural communities, helping to break cultural barriers, pushing the boundaries on social stigma while educating those that are often overlooked and creating Autism Awareness.

HANK YOU FOR YEARS OF KINDNESS TO LA VECCHIA

KIDNESS
For many years, I have been frequenting a beautifully furnished restaurant called La Vecchia Ristorante, in the prestigious Yonge and Eglington area in Toronto, for the last  eight years, often bringing my children, including my child with Autism, to eat and enjoy the  authentic, to die for,  Italian food, a  bustling restaurant, where it is impossible to get a reservation. Most of the restaurant goers are   couples, sometimes we see families, I’m proud to say we have never been refused or turned away.

HOW TO TEACH YOUR CHILD TO MAKE THE BEST KIT-KAT CAKE FOR FATHER’S DAY ( FOR THE NON MARTHA STEWART )

KITKATCAKE

I have a confession to make, not easy for me to admit, I am a failure at one of the  most basic requirements of mommy hood, my cooking skills are terrible, actually they suck, my family would rather eat anywhere, than have me try to cook even a simple meal, sometimes I go all out and go gourmet – a grilled cheese sandwich on rye with French cheese and home cut fries, reserved only for special occasions.

Father’s Day is fast approaching, my children want to make a homemade cake to surprise  dad for Father’s Day, I’m no Martha Stewart, and here lies the problem,  there too old for me to buy a cake from the local Italian Bakery  and pass it off as my own, a skill I have mastered. I know what cake pans are, how to mix batter, pour batter, that’s really about it, I looked for a cake, I could succeed at, was easy and simple and, I wouldn’t look like a fool in front of the kiddos, after all they think I am this great baker, baking all kind of exotic  pastries I don’t even know the names of like Bruttiboni, Cannoli and Crocette of Caltanissetta.

TIPS ON HOW I COULD BE A BETTER MOM FROM MY AUTISM CHILD!

AUTISMMOM

I wanted to let you all in on a elusive story, a story about to break any moment, on BBC ….   ssshhh…..,  I have the pirated copy of the interview,  already uploaded to YouTube from someone half way across the world, of why our children with autism can be unhappy and have warranted outbursts. The interview was  telepathic, of course, he ONLY has emerging speech, the topic: life as he sees it, the things I am doing wrong or just don’t seem to understand, I am told to throw away the ABA Textbooks, the answers are in our children’s reality.

Mommies why can’t you get it right?
